Evaluations

The Spring Season will kick off on Sunday, March 28, 2021 with our annual player evaluations.

For those new to AGSL or Evaluation Day, this is not a tryout so there’s nothing for your player to worry about, it’s just an opportunity for our coaches to assess skill levels so we can build balanced teams for the season. For those who have attended Evaluation Day before, things are going to look a little different this year to ensure the safety of all participants.

This year the evaluations will take place in the Andover High School Field House.

Evaluation Schedule by Division

Juniors (3rd/4th grade)
12:45 PM check-in
1-2:15 PM evaluations

Majors (5th/6th grade)
2:15 PM check-in
2:30-3:45 PM evaluations

Seniors (7th/8th grade)
3:45 PM check-in
4-5:15 PM evaluations

Note: Pitchers and Catchers will stay an extra 15 minutes for additional evaluations

If you cannot make your division’s timeslot you may come to another timeslot.

Players should wear comfortable but warm clothing as it may be a little chilly in the field house.

Players must wear face coverings.

Players should NOT wear softball cleats.

Players can bring a water bottle.

Arrival and Departure

Everyone who enters the Field House MUST wear a face covering.

Please enter at the Field House doors closest to the tennis courts.

You will be asked to provide your completed documents and register for your player’s Evaluation Number Bib. Please assist you player in attaching this bib to their clothing in the Front. We will have hand sanitizer at the registration table for players to apply.

Exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present. We are taking precautions to protect both you, your child, and our volunteers. To assist in that effort, we will be asking each parent to confirm the health of their player by answering a few basic questions:

1. Has your child had signs of a fever or a temperature of 100.3 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours?

2. Does your child have a combination of: chills, fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell?

3. Has your child tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

4. Has your child had close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

5. Is your child or anyone in your family waiting on COVID-19 test results?

If the answer to any of the above questions will be “yes,” please stay home as your player will not be eligible to attend the in-person evaluation. Instead e-mail registrar@andoversoftball.org and we can make alternate arrangements.

Parents and spectators will not be allowed to remain in the field house after completing the player registration. Parents will provide a contact phone number when registering.

Players will be exiting the Field House at the door closest to the back of the building.

NOTE: Please make sure players have used the bathroom before coming to the evaluation since there may not be access to the fieldhouse bathrooms.

Equipment Drive

On Evaluation Day, AGSL will be collecting gently used bats, helmets, gloves, cleats, catchers gear, and softball backpacks/bags, especially equipment for use by our Tee Ball and Minors players.

So if you are doing some spring cleaning and have unused softball equipment cluttering your closets, help us out and bring them with you!

Please contact our registrar if you have questions: registrar@andoversoftball.org
